The small and beautiful island of Lobos is located in the Bocaina Strait, 8 kilometers south of Lanzarote and 2 kilometers off the northeastern coast of Fuerteventura, in front of the town of Corralejo from where it can be accessed thanks to short ferry crossings.

Declared a nature reserve in 1982, the island is surrounded by crystal clear waters and dotted with beautiful white sand bays.
The island is a very popular day trip destination for tourists from nearby Fuerteventura even though access is limited to certain areas and a series of well-marked trails in order to preserve the island’s biodiversity.
The Punto Martino area, at the top of the Caldera, the highest point of Lobos, and Playa de la Concha are very beautiful. It is possible to eat at the only restaurant on the island.
An excursion to the island of Lobos is a very advisable plan if you are traveling to Fuerteventura or Lanzarote. It is a small island completely protected, a mini desert paradise where you can enjoy the beach, hiking and surfing without being disturbed by anyone.

The island of Lobos has an area of about six square kilometers, and is located two kilometers northeast of Fuerteventura and eight kilometers south of Lanzarote. Lobos is a true ecological jewel where you can disconnect for a day.
Being a small protected island, access to Lobos is limited to 400 people a day. The Cabildo de Fuerteventura issues the authorization to visit the island of Lobos in two daily shifts, morning and afternoon, of 200 places each and four hours of permission. That is, you can only be there for four hours.
You will enjoy a paradisiacal environment.

The ferry will drop you off at the small pier located in the south of the island. Very close to there, to the east, are the only buildings that occupy the territory.
They are a series of low houses at the foot of the water where you will find the only beach bar where you can eat. In front of the town you can admire a tiny bay with turquoise waters dotted with several islets of black rock.

The shallow depth rewards the view with that wonderful color of paradisiacal waters. The marine fauna is displayed without fear to delight snorkelers, who will enjoy almost transparent waters.
A small wooden jetty juts a few meters above the water, the Puertito de Lobos, for those who want to jump or look for the perfect photo. This corner is only the beginning of the excursion around the island.

To the west of the port where the ferry disembarks is the surprising beach of La Concha de Lobos. As if it were a shell or crescent, its spectacular silhouette seems to complete a complete circumference, transmitting a feeling of being in a lake, rather than on a small island in the Canary Islands.
And although Lobos does not offer more beaches than the two previous jewels, its particular coastline offers corners where you can go down to the shore to take a bath.
But, also, like the rest of the Canary Islands, Lobos is also synonymous with surfing.
Despite its small size, the west coast of the islet hides the longest wave in the Canary Islands, ‘the right wave of Lobos’, between 300 and 500 meters long.
It is located in the area near the La Caldera volcano.
